Heated Motorcycle Jackets extend riding season into the winter
Heated Motorcycle Jackets and other outerwear turn a three season activity into a year round activity. It is wonderful to take a bike out for a ride on a crisp fall day or a warm spring afternoon, but when it comes to winter riding it can be a miserable experience. Cruising at 60 mph in sub freezing weather with nothing but a windshield and a leather jacket to protect you from the wind and elements is no one’s idea of a good time. There is a reason most motorcycles are put away for the winter. With heated clothing a rider can be comfortable regardless of the outside temperature.
Heated Motorcycle Jackets are essentially a liner that will go under normal biker’s leathers. These are not at all like those old battery powered socks. These liners plug directly into the motorcycle allowing the liner to pull more power and heat itself more effectively. Most liners come in both a 65 watt and a 90 watt variety. The 65 watt variety is generally used with older bikes who do not push as much power as their newer counterparts.
A heated motorcycle jacket liner is not simply on or off. Most come with a variable controller. This allows the wearer to adjust the heat of the liner in different weather conditions. This also cuts down on how much power the liner is pulling. There is no need to pull a lot of power if the weather does not require it. A fully powered heat vest can burn someone if it is cranked all the way up in the wrong conditions.
When it comes to heated clothing for bikers, bikers are not limited to just vests or jackets. There are also gloves and pant’s liners that can be tied into the motorcycle’s electrical system. They are normally “hooked” into the jacket rather than run off a separate cord. This allows the entire system to be run off one variable controller. While most controllers are single zone, there are dual and triple zone controllers available that allow the rider the ability to turn off the vest but keep the heat flowing to the gloves or vice versa.
People that have never been on a motorcycle with a frigid wind in their face have no idea how appealing the idea of being toasty and warm on a motorcycle is. Heated Liners, Vests, and Gloves have extended riding season year round. Now riders no longer have to fear frostbite while riding in the late fall and winter.
